Angharad Jones
COO
Angharad moved to Hello World after 15 years of senior leadership in the retail industry where she worked at Agent Provocateur, La Perla and Rituals. She has considerable experience building businesses, developing brands, and building and managing teams in emerging markets across Europe and North America. Angharad moved from London to NYC 10 years ago to manage new projects and stakeholders at all levels across North America, creating strategies to support growth and improve company performance. In New York, She has been involved in a number of youth-based projects working alongside educators and administrations in public schools in the Tri-State area as well as volunteering at non-profit organisations supporting children and their families affected by cancer. Angharad is passionate about bringing the operational rigour and business acumen to the third sector.
Anita Ingabire
Hello World Fellow
Anita is passionate about community transformation and uplifting the girl child in all sectors of life. She holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and her career focus is sustainable development of renewable energy and associated technologies. She wants to see to it that our natural resources are not exploited to depletion but are protected for future generations to also utilize.
Anna Sutton
Project Co-ordinator
Anna graduated from the University of Leeds with a First Class degree in French and International Development, focusing on gender and women’s empowerment. She has worked as an English teacher in Senegal, where she learnt French (which comes in handy when working with refugees at the Hello Hubs!). She now travels between Uganda and the UK coordinating Hub builds and Hub projects.
Chehen Lama
Nepal Director and Engineer
Chehen is a ‘Serial Entrepreneur’ and founder of 7 companies. A self-confessed ‘tech geek’, he has over 17 years of experience in Information Technology. Chehen’s company “Everest Link”, Hello World’s IP partner in Nepal, operates the highest WIFI hotspot in the world at Everest Base Camp. He is a passionate advocate of making technology accessible to all. Despite his many ventures, Chehen volunteers much of his time leading and organizing Rural Connectivity and Community technology projects.
Dave Mugerwa
Lead Engineer
David is a technology enthusiast with a keen interest in product and systems design, innovation and technical implementation. He has worked in education, agriculture, micro finance, micro insurance and social enterprises, principally focusing on ways in which technology can be used to improve efficiency in these fields and how data can inform operational decisions. He is always keen to devise new ways of solving problems.
Dil Bahadur Tamang
Community Trainer, Nepal
Dil is a member of the tamang cast and grew up close to the Hello Hubs in Helambu. He is a talented trainer with great interpersonal skills and an expert in getting the best out of people. Dil was able to study social work and rural development with the help of his godfather and he now works hard to provide that opportunity for others.
Douglas Arinaitwe
Regional Coordinator, Southern Region, Uganda
Douglas completed high school. He has a great experience in handling children in refugee communities and has worked in refugee settlement for more than four years. He joined Hello World in 2020 as a Community Support Officer for Ruhoko Hello Hub in Nakivale. A role that enabled him support his community development. He enjoys socializing with the Hub communities.

Evelyn is a student member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE), and holds a Bachelor's degree in Automotive and Power Engineering from Kyambogo University. She is hardworking, self-motivated, innovative, and passionate about learning and gaining new skills. She loves dancing and working with children.
Faith Atuhaire
Accountant
Faith is Ugandan and holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. She works with both Imagine Her and Hello World. She has over 3 years’ experience in the accounting sector with specific focus on performing a wide variety of professional accounting duties. Her wide experience and commitment have enabled her to balance attention to detail and a hard-work ethic with a consultative touch.
Fiona Komugisha
Country Manager - Uganda
Komugisha Fiona Esther has over 5 years’ experience in the community development sector focusing on women empowerment, reproductive health and education. She holds a Bachelor in Social Science from Kyambogo University. Fiona is a founder and Program Director for Imagine Her in which role she focuses on program development and team management.
She is also a part of the network of feminist activists, Kampala Lady Bosses, working to ensure that Ugandan women are given support and mentorship to improve their livelihood. Fiona is driven by her commitment to work towards positive change in communities.
Hillary Basemeza
Associate Design and Training Engineer
Hilary describes himself as 'one proud product of Hello World in Uganda'. He first worked for Hello World as a taxi driver after dropping out of school due to tuition costs. Hilary then became a community representative, before learning everything there is to know about a Hello Hub. He now works as an engineer. He is currently completing a degree in software engineering at the University of Aptech in Uganda.
Hilary engages with many social transformation projects in his community as a volunteer, seeking to achieve a positive impact not for only this generation but for generations to come.
Jason Holden
Engineer
Jason is a Research & Development Engineer from Houston Texas. Jason graduated in electrical engineering from Rice University and then worked on system design, integration, and troubleshooting in the commercial audio/video field. With a passion for science, art and invention, Jason went on to participate in a variety of projects, patents, and business ventures. Jason now works for Avenues: The World School’s R&D department supporting various projects as well as science and engineering courses.

Commercial Partner
On July 5th, 2021 Hello World partnered with abrdn as they launched their new future-facing, client-supporting brand. Together we are building 64 new abrdn Hello Hubs across Uganda. Their multi-year support has allowed us to recruit new technical and support staff, revolutionising our capacity and allowing the leadership team to focus on development.

Internet Service Provider (ISP)
Roke Telkom provides 24-hour Wi-Fi to every Hello Hub in Uganda. That’s a lot of data! This vital partnership means that every Hub in Uganda has a fast reliable internet connection. And when things do go wrong Roke is on hand to help. Roke Telkom is Ugandan owned and operated and all of their knowledge goes into making every Hello Hub that much better.

Everest Link (ISP)
Everest Link is our lead Internet Service Provider in Nepal. They have led on Hub Builds, driven site selection and delivered training partnerships for Hubs across Nepal. Their knowledge of the unique challenges posed by Nepal’s mountainous terrain is invaluable (their network includes Mount Everest). With their help and guidance, we have taken Hub technology to communities that are close geographically but that take many hours to travel between.

Research Partner
60 Decibels use quantitative and qualitative research methods to ask tens of thousands of beneficiaries across hundreds of social change organisations to judge, based on their own lived experience the materiality of the impact those organisations make to their lives. Hello World is consistently in the top quintile of 60dB’s benchmarking overall as well as against both technology and education-related peers to Hello World.

Lopa Winters
Lopa is a medical doctor working in Leadership and Organisational Consulting with a two decade clinical background in child and family psychiatry. She believes our earliest experiences continue to colour how we show up in the systems around us and that we should never grow out of asking the all important ‘why’ questions. A keen advocate for equity in access to health and education; she is delighted to be part of Helloworld’s innovative and progressive approaches to working with marginalised communities.

Tom Adams
Tom is a co-founder of 60 Decibels. Tom has held various leadership roles across the public, private and charitable sectors. Immediately before 60dB Tom was the Chief Impact Officer at Acumen, and prior to that worked in Ethiopia and Nigeria for the Department for International Development. Tom has also worked for the Foreign Office, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, and Credit Suisse. He holds a Masters degree (distinction) in Development Economics from SOAS.

Frances Baawuah
Dr Frances Baawuah (MBChB MRCP MRCGP DFSRH PGMedEd) is a General Practitioner with over 15 years of clinical experience. Frances has shown leadership qualities since being awarded Head Girl at School. She continues to use these skills in her clinical work, and also as Partner of a 19,000 patient inner-city London Practice. She has recently been appointed as the clinical lead for her local Covid Response unit, as well as the Covid Schools surveillance study with Public Health England.

Laura is a former strategy consultant (Deloitte, Booz) and retail director (Kingfisher, Selfridges). She is now an advisor, angel investor and founder of a sustainable cleaning brand (Seep). She loves working on all things digital and customer-centred, particularly when working with organisations with a strong purpose. Perhaps most importantly of all she is a mother of two and believes passionately in Hello World’s mission of closing the gap in access to education.

Marcus has been involved in Hello World since before the first hub was built. He has worked in the digital industry for the last 23 years, cutting his teeth just prior to the early days of the dotcom boom after an early career in sales and marketing in the UK & Japan. He built his own digital marketing business until its acquisition in 2011 and is an angel investor in, and advisor to, early-stage UK and international businesses.

Jonathan Asante worked in the activity of investing in lower income countries for over twenty years. Through Footprints Africa he has focussed on ways to help small African businesses offer opportunity to the next generation of people. Jonathan is an award-winning television producer, who set up an independent production company Knickerbockerglory in 2011, with the aim of being the first production company to share its profits with staff and freelancers, and giving to charity. In the last three years they have produced more documentary hours than any other company in the UK. In 2017 Knickerbockerglory were voted the best place to work in TV.

Liz Smith
Co-Founder & Chief Executive of EYElliance, Liz has spent the last 12 years working in international development. After 5 years with the UN Office of South-South Cooperation, Liz joined VisionSpring as Director of Business Development where she and Founder Jordan Kassalow explored collaboration to provide access to eyeglasses on a global scale. Liz is a graduate of the University of Vermont, a member of the Explorers Club, and two-time National Geographic Society grant recipient for her work documenting endangered song.

Liz has over fifteen years’ experience in historic preservation, urban design, and non-profit leadership. She has worked with community-based collaborators in locations ranging from New York City to New Delhi, India to Maputo, Mozambique. She is a co-founder of the urban design collaborative Design For. Previously, she served as Executive Director of Sir John Soane’s Museum Foundation. Liz is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

As an award-winning Writer-Director and Co-Founder of VR company, moVRshaker productions, Anna’s expertise lies in storytelling. Since 2016 she has also been Creative Director of ‘The Conversation’ - an annual live event hosted by Dame Emma Thompson in aid of the Helen Bamber Foundation, a charity that supports the survivors of trafficking and torture. She has created content for Human Rights advocacy across all media, and worked with both BAFTA and Oscar-winning talent as well as the National Youth Theatre (UK). In 2020 she scripted a BBC4 Radio Appeal which was made on Hello World’s behalf by actor, author and broadcaster, Stephen Fry.
