547 kids. 25 communities. Massive gains in literacy and numeracy.
This past year, our Hub Heroes Library Programme helped hundreds of children in Uganda build the skills they need to thrive in school—and beyond.
Through our Hello Hubs-solar-powered, Wi-Fi-enabled Internet and with tablets packed with award-winning educational software, we reached 547 primary-aged children across 25 new communities, including refugee settlements. Thanks to support from the Educational Opportunity Foundation, these kids didn’t just learn—they excelled.
Hello World delivers bespoke digital skills training for children in our communities to address digital literacy barriers. The Hub Heroes Library programme is at the heart of this work, ensuring that children have the basic literacy and numeracy skills they need to continue and excel in their education. We aim to tackle the digital divide by ensuring that illiteracy does not limit their digital access throughout their lives.
What We Achieved:
- 94% of children improved in literacy
- 96% improved in numeracy
- Average skill gains: 38%
- 53% of participants were girls
Beyond academics, children gained confidence and joy in learning. Parents and caregivers are getting involved, and schools are seeing real changes—like Bulubandi Primary, which enrolled 78 new students in just six months.
One Story, Many Lives Changed.
Kazei, a student from Bugembe, dropped out of school believing he couldn’t keep up. After joining the Hub Heroes programme, his literacy jumped from 21% to 89%, and numeracy from 15% to 83%. He’s now back in school—and thriving.
The Hub Heroes Programme is about building confidence, fostering a love for learning, and creating opportunities for children in marginalised communities to reach their full potential.
